Biography
Agnes Bradford is a part of US Black heritage.
Agnes was born before 1850, most likely based on her being a granddaughter and most likely at least a teenager or young adult. Her last name is based on her slave owner until her actual last name at birth is discovered.
Susan Bradford Eppes' books mentioned a few of the slaves that worked on Horseshoe Plantation, a small plantation near Pine Hill Plantation, both of which were owned by Dr. Edward Bradford. Agnes was one of those slaves who was mentioned. She is described as the granddaughter of Uncle Tom and Aunt Rachel. She was her grandmother's assistant in running the day nursery.[1][2]
