Leigh Brackett was well-known as a famous science fiction writer primarily of the 1940's and 1950's and commonly referred to as "the Queen of the Space Opera". She was also well-known as a screenwriter for movies like The Big Sleep, Los Bravo, and The Long Goodbye. She also wrote a treatment of The Empire Strikes Back, and while she passed away before it was released, elements of her input were included in the final film.
