I have been doing genealogy for about 20 years and am the Registrar for the Mapes Family Association. I have helped identify a large number of descendants of Thomas Mapes, b. 1628. Thomas settled in Southold, Long Island, NY. His descendants spread out all through the US. Unfortunately we still don't know where Thomas originated or who his parents are. But we're still looking!!!
