"Virgil Clovis Box "Daw Daw" b. 9/15/1931 d. 11/5/2017 My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. –Psalm 62:1 "I will cling to the old rugged cross, and exchange it someday for a crown" -- The Old Rugged Cross 86 years is a blessing! Virgil was called home on November 5, 2017 to be with the Lord; now an angel who's gained his wings. He was born to Clara F. Box and Clovis H. Box on September 15, 1931. Life was not off to an easy start.

"Being born during the Great Depression, it had its many hardships. The loss of his father in 1933 left Clara the single mother of two small children. She did an amazing job raising them, and in spite of any hard times, he had a heart of gold and a love for Jesus. As a younger man he served his time in the US Army, as a personal chef for one of the officers. The stories he could tell of his time in Germany were humorous to say the least. No matter what was in season, be it dove, deer, fish or the rabbits from Papaw Sandifer's back yard, he was going to hunt it and eat it. He was known as Skillet to many, due to his love of cooking. I can recall the smell of bacon on the stove and coffee brewing on Saturday mornings while he'd read his paper at the kitchen table. – He'd fix us grandkids a cup of milk, sugar and coffee so we could sit with him. At any family get together, you'd find him with a Coors Light in hand, laughing, always happy to be the host. Though life has given our family many ups and downs, we choose to remember the ups in this somber time.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. –Proverbs 3:5 Our lives are all apart of God's divine plan. This is something Daw Daw knew, he had great faith. I will forever cherish the memories of church on Sunday's with you. I have never seen someone who can recall every hymn with such little effort. The look of peace that would come over your face as you stood to sing will always make my heart soar. Your soul so gentle, with a heart so forgiving. It is you who taught me the most about forgiveness – even when I didn't think it was possible, or deserved, you did it with such ease. Thanks to His Blessed Assurance, I know I will see you again one day, on God's celestial shores.
