Joseph was convicted on 24 Oct 1832 at York, Yorkshire, England for Larceny before a conviction of Felony. and sentenced to 14 years in the colonies. He was transported on the ship Emperor Alexander, departing from Downs on 12 Apr 1833 bound for Tasmania, Australia [2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9]
Joseph was given a conditional pardon in 1846 (that is - freedom on the provision that he never returned to England).
Death
Joseph died in 1867 in Victoria, Australia, aged 59. [10]
