Jean-Baptiste Boursier dit Lavigne was born about 1720 in Lachine, , Quebec, Canada to Alexandre Boursier and Marie Jeanne Primeau . The grand-son of Jean Boursier / Bourcier dit Lavigne and Marie-Marthe Thibeaudeau killed in the Iroquois massacre.

He married twice.

1. Marie-Anne-Josephte Bourbeau Carignan on 7 Jan 1751 at St-Philomene in Chateauguay, Quebec. They had Madeleine Boursier 26 Apr 1754- 19 Aug 1832 (Louis-Amable Poirier & Charles-Marie Vallee); Angelique 12 Sep 1762-4 Sep 1832 (Louis Raymond).

2. Marie-Catherine-Louise Daoust on 1 May 1770 in Les Cedres. He is 50. She is 25. They had Victoire 1779- (Josette Duquet); Marie-Catherine 3 Jun 1788- (Pierre Clement).
