"We regret (says the Bundaberg Mail of February 28) to have to announce the death of Mr. John Bourke, at the comparatively early age of 46 year, which sad event took place at his residence in South Bundaberg on Friday last, the immediate cause being cancer. Deceased was universally esteemed, his disposition being such as to endear him to all with whom he came in contact. His remains were interred in the Roman Catholic cemetery on Saturday afternoon, being followed by a large number of friends desirous of paying the last sad rites to one whose good qualities had won their regard.
