Biography

Henrietta Boughner, ninth child of Boughner-534 and Brouse-218, was born in Syndertown, Pennsylvania on November 24, 1847.[1][2] It's most likely that Henrietta moved west to Michigan to stay with family friends from Derry County, Pennsylvania, the Hendershots (William Hendershot and his wife, Mary Ann Beavers Kitchen), who had moved west to Michigan from Derry County sometime between 1840 and 1845, according to census records. Henrietta married John and Sarah's son, Charles, on January 13, 1870, who she met when she moved to the Morgan farm. They married in Tecumseh, Michigan.[3] They married young: Charles was 23 and Henrietta was 18.[4] By 1880, Henrietta and Charles had three children and Charles was farming on his own account in Saline.[5] Charley and Henrietta joined the Reformed Church of Macon, a Dutch Reformed Church, on June 11, 1881.[6]

Henrietta died on November 13, 1883, at the age of 32, from complications of childbirth, eleven days after the birth of her son, Roscoe.[7] Roscoe died four years later. Henrietta is buried in Macon Cemetery in Macon, Michigan.[8]
