Barbe Boucher lived

Barbe Boucher was born on 13 Dec 1663 and baptized the 14th in La-Visitation-de-Notre-Dame parish of Château-Richer (on the Beaupré coast). She was the daughter of Pierre Boucher and Marie St-Denys (sic). Godparents at the infant's baptism were Guillaume Boucher and Letardif. The officiating priest was Thomas Morel. [Act states: The page of the register being torn, the first name of the godmother is illegible] (s/b Barbe)[1]

Barbe Boucher, aged 18 on the record, married René Maheu, aged 24 on the record, son of the late René Maheu and Jeanne Garnier, on 16 Nov 1682 in La-Visitation-de-Notre-Dame parish of Château-Richer. In the presence of known witnesses Claude Auber, Zacharie Cloutier and Guillaume Boucher. The celebrant priest was G. Gautier.[3]

  1. René Maheu, born and baptized on 1 July 1683 in Château-Richer[4]

10 décembre 1685 Order that the tutor of René Maheu, posthumous child resulting from the marriage of the deceased René Maheu and his widow, Barbe Boucher will be heard and that if there is no elected representative that he will proceed to elect one by -before the judge of Beaupré.

(Transcription of the original french text with modernized spelling): "From Monday, tenth December 1685. The Council assembled where attended by the Governor, the Abbot of Saint-Vallié appointed by the King bishop of this city of Quebec. Masters. Louis Rouer de Villeray first counselor. Charles Legardeur de Tilly. Mathieu Damours Deschaufour. Nicolas Dupont de Neuville. Charles Denys de Vitré advisers. And François Madeleine Ruette d'Auteuil Attorney General. On what was represented by the Attorney General that he had communication of the Council's judgment of March 24, 1684. And of the documents mentioned therein, at the request of him, and noted that by the act of assembly of relatives and friends of René Maheut posthumous child from the marriage of the late René Maheut and his widow Barbe Boucher, said deceased René Maheut son of other René Maheut and of Jeanne Garnier now a wife in fourth Weddings of Jacques Barbot, said act done before the judge.[5]

Barbe Boucher, widow, married Georges Cadoret, widower, on 22 Apr 1686 in La-Visitation-de-Notre-Dame parish of Château-Richer. No parents or spouses named on the record. In the presence of known witnesses Guillaume Boucher, Nicolas Thibault son of Guillaume Tibault. The celebrant priest was Charles A. Martin. All of them sign with the couple and the priest[6]

In 1704 and following, Georges Cadoret and his wife Barbe Boucher made land sales and purchases for René Maheu, son of René Maheu and Barbe Boucher by her prior marriage.

Requête de Georges Cadoret, habitant de la côte de Lauzon, au nom et comme ayant épousé Barbe Boucher, auparavant veuve de feu René Maheu (Maheust), demandant la tenue d'une assemblée pour discuter de l'achat d'une habitation sur la côte de Lauzon pour René Maheu, fils mineur du défunt René Maheu et de ladite Boucher . - 2 avril 1704[7]

Vente par Georges Cadoret et Barbe Boucher, de la côte de Lauzon, à Mathurin Huot et Marie Letartre, de L’Ange-Gardien, savoir: la moitié d’une terre et habitation en cette dernière paroisse, de 3 arpents sur 1 lieue et demie de profondeur et la 9è partie en l’autre moitié telles que ces deux portions de terre sont échues à René Maheu, mineur, fils et petit-fils de feu René Maheu, duquel mineur les vendeurs sont représentants. Georges Cadoret died in 1711. Tutors were named for his children when Barbe remarried, usual practice of the time.

Barbe Boucher, widow of Georges Cadoret, married Louis Jourdain, son of Jean Jourdain and the late Michelle Honensard, on 8 Feb 1712 in Pointe-de-Lévy. In the presence of known witnesses Guillaume Jourdain, Michel Jourdain, Jean Cadoret, Louis Angot des Maiserets, François Cadoret, Louis Marchand, Claude Dudevoir, and François Bourassas. The celebrant priest was Philippe Boucher.[10]

No issue from this marriage.[4]

Vente et cession par Louis Jourdain et Barbe Bouché, de la seigneurie de Lauzon, à Jacques Bernier, maître de barque, et Angélique Lafontaine, de Québec, de 4 arpents sur la profondeur que la dite concession peut avoir, en la dite seigneurie, joignant d ’un côté à la veuve de François Dubois et à ses héritiers, de l ’autre au nommé Sansoucy ; devant, la rivière Etchemin, derrière, les terres non concédées. Death and Burial
Barbe Boucher, wife of Louis Jordain dit St-Louis, was buried on 20 Mar 1724 in Pointe-de-Lévy. The record giving her the age of around 58 years. In the presence of known witnesses, her sons, Pierre and Antoine Cadoret. The officiating priest was J. Larue. Her exact date of death is not mentioned in the burial record.[11]

Tutors were again named for her minor children with Georges Cadoret after her death.
