Angélique was born in February of 1754. She was baptized Marie Angelique on February 6th 1754 in St-Vallier, DOB not specified.[1] She was the daughter of Charles Bouchard and Marie Josephe Corriveau.[2]
Angélique's father Charles passed away in 1760, leaving her mother Marie Josephe widowed with three young children. Her mother remarried the following year, to Louis Étienne Dodier. Her second husband was found dead in the barn in January of 1763, and Angélique's grandfather Joseph Corriveau was accused of his murder, with her mother as his accomplice. Upon being sentenced to death, Joseph then claimed that his daughter was the real mastermind behind the murder. Marie Josephe was given a second trial, where she confessed, stating that her husband had treated her cruelly. She was then sentenced to hang in chains.[3][4] The cruel manner of her execution was carried out, likely in April of 1763, with her being hanged and then her remains being left on public display in a gibbet for at least a month. This left Angélique, then only nine years old, orphaned, along with her brother and sister. The tales that sprang up around her mother countinue to flourish to this day, and Marie Josephe Corriveau's imagined visage has even been on a prepaid postcard and Canadian postage stamp.[5][6]
Angélique and her sister Marie Françoise both married in a double wedding ceremony in St-Vallier on October 16, 1769.[7][8] Angélique, just fifteen, married Jean Baptiste Quémeneur dit Laflamme while Marie Françoise, seventeen, married Paul Gourgue. Their grandfather, Joseph Corriveau, acted as witness to the nuptials. Did he raise these children after the execution of his daughter? It does appear that way.

Children with no marriages before 1850:
Marie Josephe known only from her burial, d. 26 Nov 1804, mother's name Marie Josephe Bouchard, she could be from a different couple. Estimated YOB 1769. My opinion that is this is the burial for Marie Ange with a mistake in both the child's name and the mother's name[11].

St-Vallier is missing parts of 1732-1756 in FamilySearch, so baptism record sourced here is from Institut généalogique Drouin. Likewise, it appears to be missing 1769, so the marriage act is also sourced from Institut généalogique Drouin.
