I was born in Alabama of an Alabama native (last name Boone!) and an English mother (maiden name Clements). They met during WWII while both were serving their respective country. They were married in St. Albans right after the war ended and settled in Alabama. My mother served at Bletchley Park, keeping her signing of the Secret War Act a sacred secret from her family until her death. I only found her war record when finding her name on the honor roll of Bletchley Park!
I started my ancestry hunt a few years ago, specifically due to my mother and her father's roots, which were mentioned as Scottish and of the McDonald/Macdonald origin. Sure enough, I found the connections that led to the Cabrach in the northeast of Scotland.
The Boone side of the family can be a confusing conglomeration of genealogy, but I can safely say my Boone's were not of the "Daniel Boone" fame; we've known that for quite some time from an uncle's delving into ancestry. But the southern state Boone men were quite something it appears, and married into families with incredible connections back to Europe.
My DNA has me at the following: 44% England and Northwestern Europe 34% Scotland with Ethnicity regions as Northeast Scotland and the Nothern Isles. Moray and Gordon specifically 17% Wales 3% Germanic Europe (Netherlands and Germany) 2% Sweden, primarily Denmark and Sweden
I'm still working as a professional artist and haven't had the time I would like to pursue my continuing journey in finding my ancestors. Oddly, I have found that my connections to any sort of British royalty, Scottish royalty have come through my father's side of the family. . .all British immigrating through Charleston, etc. The illustrous Farrar's of Virginia and early settlers (Boone, Soule, Missildine, Sullivan, Farrar, Perrin, White, etc., surnames) spreading across the southern states abound in astonishing numbers!
Across the pond I have discovered six Magna Carta Surety Barons that are certain/confidently my 24th and 25th Great Grandfathers! Obviously there's so much to learn, as we are all related in this world. I haven't even been able to complete my tree here, but if there ever comes a day when I can retire, I hope to be a better Wikitree member.
