Biography

George was born about 1779.

He married Mary Misener. Their children included:

• Margaret Book, born about 1818^[1]
• Henry Book, born about 1823^[2]
• William Book, born about 1830^[3]
• Catherine Book, born about 1831.

In 1851, George (72 and widowed) was living and farming in Ancaster, Wentworth (county), Canada West (Ontario), next to the home of son, William.^[4]

He passed away on Aug. 31, 1857.^[5]

Gravestone inscription: "George Book died 1857 Aug. 31, aged 76 years of his age."^[5]

Wife's family name (Misener) based on marriage record of daughter, Margaret. Recorded as: Misner.

Daughter, Catherine based on 1851 census records (living next to each other). Also based on Find A Grave info and the fact that son, Nelson (son of Catherine) was buried in the Book Family Plot along with George and Mary Book.

Birth years for children are approximate and are not consistent in all records.

If the date of death on the gravestone for George Book was actually 31 Aug 1857, and he died in his 76th year, then his year of birth would have been closer to 1782 than 1779.
