Edmund Blood was the founder of the Bloods of County Clare in Ireland, and possibly of the Bloods of Ireland in general. Genealogical information pertaining to him comes almost exclusively from late 19th and early 20th century derivative sources, which stem from unpublished family records and oral histories maintained among the various branches of the Irish Bloods. What was generally believed about Edmund by the early Bloods of Ireland was put down in writing in 1791 by William Blood, and can be summarized as follows:
Edmund was still alive at least as late as 21 May 1638 when he was a defendant in a lawsuit that was heard by the Dublin courts.[1]
Merger Warning: This is very unlikely to be the same person as Edmund Blood of Makeney of the parish of Duffield, Derbyshire and these two profiles should not be merged unless definitive, original sources are found that show it to be at least probable they are the same person.
