Biography

James was the son of Henry Blenkarne and Catherine Stokcer Browell. He was baptised at St Thomas's, Southwark, Surrey on 11 June 1835^[1]

The 1861 census lists James, age 25, as a curate at Timberland, Lincolnshire, single, born London.^[2]

James's marriage to Fanny Barrett was registered at Lincoln, Lincolnshire in the 3rd quarter of 1861.^[3]

The 1871 census lists James as a curate at Great Easton, Essex, age 35, born London. Wife Fanny, 35, born Ross, Herefordshire.^[4]

The 1891 census lists James at Barcombe, Sussex, age 58, born London. Wife Fanny, 58, born Ross, Herefordshire.^[5]

The 1901 census lists James at Southover, Sussex, age 65, clergyman, born London. Wife Fanny, 65, born Ross, Herefordshire.^[6]

The 1911 census lists James as a clergyman at Lewes, Sussex, age 75, born Middlesex. Wife Fanny, 75, born Ross, Herefordshire.^[7]

Probate was granted on James's estate on 25 October 1912, and his death date recorded as 2 September 1912. The record indicates that his wife survived him.^[8] His death was registered at Lewes, Sussex in the 3rd quarter of 1912.^[9]
