== Biography ==

  • I have always been interested in my family history. My mother was always talking about her family. As I grew older, so did my interest in finding out more about my family history. During the 1970's I worked with my mother to help send out letters to all her cousins. The info in these letters, plus

much more collected data spurred my interest in writing a book about my family. I had cousins who were also interested in their family history, too. In 2010, after working on it for seven years, my book was completed. What a great feeling! There is just nothing to compare to discovering knowledge on family,....and other's families, too. Y-DNA and Autosomal DNA testing has been another new tool to discover more family members. Thanks for letting me be a part of WikiTree!

On another note: My Parker line has been Y-DNA tested. We are in Parker Family Group #1, on the Dennis West, Parker Y-DNA Study. http://web.utk.edu/~corn/parkerdna/default.html My Line is P37.

I am a member of the following Lineage Society, and was responsiple for adding my 6th and 7th great grandfathers, Captain James Farlee, and his father, James Farlee, Sr., to their qualifying ancestors list.

My Parker book has been reviewed by the North Carolina Genealogical Society, and appeared in the February, 2015 Journal.

Hi Kathy Jo,

It's time for a 1776 Project check-in! Please respond within the next two weeks to let me know if you want to continue as a member of the project. We'd like to know:

  • If you are on the right team or if you'd like to make a change. It's a requirement that every 1776 Project member is a part of one of the project's teams, so if you're not assigned to a team, let us know which team you'd like to join.
  • What you think the project is doing well, and what changes you'd like to see us make?

Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message on WikiTree. If we don’t hear from you within two weeks, we will assume you are no longer interested in participating in the 1776 Project, and your badge will be removed. If you wish to reapply for membership later, we will be happy to have you back.

Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Betty - 1776 Project Leader

Hello,

I am checking in on behalf of the 1776 Project to announce the new project membership requirements and to verify that you are still interested in being a member of the project. All project members are being asked to join one of the project teams and also to make at least one project contribution every 6 months. We are also asking all project members to join the project's Google Group for project communications.

If you are interested in remaining with the Project, please reply to this comment or send me a message, request to join the Google Group, and let us know what team you would like to participate on.

We really appreciate your contributions on WikiTree, and thank you for all your hard work. If you have any questions, please ask. We would also love to hear any feedback you may have for the project.

If we don't hear back from you we will assume that you no longer wish to participate in the project and if so, you could rejoin at any time as is convenient for you.

We look forward to hearing from you soon!

Hi, Kathy Jo

The Ambassadors project has been reorganizing and is looking for those who have a membership at a genealogical society, to help in spreading the word about WikiTree.

We're working on ways to improve how WikiTree connects and interacts with genealogical and local history societies. This is the kind of thing we want to do:

  • Liaise with societies: set up your local society with a free-space page and some WikiTree materials as part of a package.
  • Use social media to promote what societies are offering on WikiTree.
  • Encourage bloggers to blog about societies and the resources available to them on WikiTree.

Are you interested in participating in some way? Do you have some ideas to share?

Hi Kathy Jo,

As you will have seen, we have been doing some restructuring in the US Southern Colonies Project and are now organising ourselves into different teams. We have also changed the criteria for membership. Please have a look at the new project pages, and let me know whether you would like to remain in the project and, if so, which team(s) you would like to be in.

Please can you also send me your e-mail address. I can then make sure you are introduced to your Team Leaders and are in the Google Group.

Please note that it is a requirement for membership in the US Southern Colonies Project that you respond to these check-ins. We’re really excited for the future of the project and hope that you decide to be a part of it with us moving forwards.

Many thanks,

Susie, US Southern Colonies Project Co-Leader

Hi Kathy Jo, if you click on the link above to the project page you will see that we have organised ourselves into teams and have changed the requirements for membership in the project. Have a read through of the project page and the links to the team pages from it and let me know which team(s) you would like to be on. Please also send me via PM your e-mail address so I can get you into the project's Google group and you can be added to the trusted list of the teams you are on. Many thanks, Susie :-)

Hi Kathy Jo, it's been a couple of weeks since I asked you to let me know your team selection for US Southern Colonies and I have not heard back from you. I have gone ahead and removed you from the project for now. However, if you’d like to rejoin at any stage you would be most welcome to do so by answering the G2G sign-up post here.

Many thanks,

As part of a re-vitalization of the WikiTree US Presidents Project we are asking members if they are planning to continue their contributions to the project. We are establishing a page where everyone can identify the President or Vice President that they wish to manage. Just respond to this message to let me know 1) Are you planning to continue with the Project and 2) do you have a specific President or Vice President that you are interested in.

Hi Kathy Jo,

It has been a couple of weeks since we contacted you about your participation in the Southern Colonies Project. As we haven't heard from you, we are following up to make sure you wish to remain a member.

We understand that interests shift as we grow our shared tree and that some members may have moved on to projects more pertinent to their ancestors. If this is the case for you, please let us know.

If we do not hear back from you within the week, we will assume you have moved on to other things for the moment and remove you from the project. Please know that you will always be welcome to rejoin should your interests shift back in this direction.

Thank you so much for your participation; we genuinely appreciate it.

You asked about Thaddeus Smith Howe, and I can provide some information. He is probably descended from Edward Howe-365 of Lynn, Massachusetts, who arrived in 1635. The line continues through William Howe-36, Samuel Howe-1222, Samuel Howe-4, Thomas Howe-6853, to Samson Howe-6348. Then Samson (or Sampson) Howe is purportedly the father of David Howe, Senior (1768-1828), and on to David Howe, Jr. (1800-1881), and your Thaddeus Smith Howe. The weak link is the Samson to David, Senior link. Ancestry trees show this link, but I have not been able to find any confirming sources.

Welcome to the US Presidents Project, make sure you add presidents as one of your followed tags on G2G. When asking questions, or asking for help in connecting your family, add that tag and the US Presidents project members can try to help.
