Biography
Josephine Blake is a part of US Black heritage.
Josephine was born before 1841. Blake, her enslaver's surname, is being used as her LNAB until it can be determined what her actual surname is.
In 1841, the 41 enslaved from Blakely Plantation, Leon County, Florida were listed in the Chancery court paperwork on Miles Blake (1785-1840), their deceased enslaver. His heirs, Susan (Parish) Blake (1809-1868), Joel Clifton Blake (1831-1863) and John Henry Blake (1832-1901), were petitioning the court for an equitable division of the slaves, which included Josephine. It is not yet known who received which slaves.[1]
