James Blair was born about 18 May 1735 in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, Scotland, son of James Blair (before 1710– ) and Anne Richardson (about 1711– ).

James (24) married Margaret Junkin (24) (born about 1735 in County Antrim, Ireland) about 1760 in South Carolina.

Their children were:

  1. Sarah Jane Blair (1767–1852)
  2. William Blair (1768–1832)
  3. Martha Phoebe Blair (about 1773–1844)
  4. James Blair (1789– )

James died on 6 August 1812 in Chester, South Carolina, United States, aged 77.
