Enlisted in Alleghany 28 August 1861, Company I, 64th New York Volunteers. Captured 14 October 1863 at Battle of Bristoe Station, Virginia. POW at Belle Isle and Andersonville; paroled 21 April 1865 at Vicksburg, Mississippi. Mustered out 15 May 1865 at New York City.
