William Birney is Notable.
William Birney (May 28, 1819 – August 14, 1907) was a professor, Union Army general during the American Civil War, attorney and author. William enlisted in the union Army on 22 May 1861 at t the rank of Captain, was promoted to Major on 27 August 1861, to Lt. Colonel on 26 August 1862, to Colonel on 7 March 1863, and to Brigadeer General on 22 May 1863. He left the Army on 24 August 1865 at the rank of Brevet Major General. [1][2]
William died (age 88) on 14 August 1907 in Forest Glen, Montgomery, Maryland, United States.[10]
