Biography
Abigail was identified in her father's will as Abigail FitzRandolph and her husband Joseph FitzRandolph was named as an executor of said will, as follows: 1738, April 19. Bird, Jeremiah, of Elizabeth Town, Essex Co., yeoman; will of. Children—Joseph, Abigail FitzRandolph, Mary King, Prudence Gedis, Hannah Atkinson, Martha Bird and Rachel Kellsey. Real and personal estate. Executors—wife, Abigail, and son-in-law, Joseph FitzRandolph. Witnesses—Edward Vaughn, John Terrill, Anne Terrill. Proved May 5, 1738. 1738, May 5. Joseph FitzRandolph, Quaker, qualified as executor. [1]
Abigail was identified as wife of Joseph FitzRandloph in his will of 1741. As his widow, she was left with six underage children.
1741, 5th mo. (July), 9d, FitzRandolph, Joseph, of Woodbridge, Middlesex Co., yeoman; will of. Children—Nathaniel, Asher, Jeremiah, Joseph, Margaret, Sarah, all under age. Land bought of Samuel Dennis, April 21, 1737, joining land of Solomon Hunt; land bought of Samuel Ailing, joining Edward Freeman and Vangual; land in possession of widow Isabella Randolph; lands purchased of Moses Rolph and Job Wright at Rahway, Oct. 16, 1736. Monthly Meeting at Woodbridge, £6. Executors—wife Abigail, friends Jacob FitzRandolph and Joseph Shotwell, Jun'r. Witnesses—Jonathan Moore, Samuel Moffat, Anee Moffatt. Proved Aug. 24, 1741. 1741, Aug. 24. Joseph Shotwell, executor, refused to act. NJ Wills Lib. C, p. 429.
