Biography

Saverio was born in 1915 in Brooklyn, NY. He was the son of Antonio Biancaniello and Clarice Cavaliere, and was their first child born in America.^[1]

Saverio worked as a tailor in the garment industry.^[2]. He appears to have married Angelia Bassolino in Brooklyn on 30 August 1936.^[3] They had 3 children, and lived in the Biancaniello household at 30 Pulaski Street, with his parents, and with his older brother in 1940.^[4] They lived there until at least 1950.^[5]

After a divorce from his first wife, he remarried Harriet Rachels in 1951. While they had a license issued in New York City, they ended up being married in Arlington, Virginia.^[6]

Later in life, he appears to have gone by Salvatore or "Sal" Benson. He was using the name Sal as early as 1949, and updated his Social Security Record to indicate he was using the last name Benson in 1960.^[7]

He passed away on 26 January 2006, and is buried on Long Island under the name Sal Benson.^[8]
