Biography

Robert was born in 1909 in Boston to parents Theodore Best and Emma Saunders, who were born in Nova Scotia and had emigrated to the United States. Robert or Bob as he was known, was the youngest of seven children. Bob moved to the coast in the 1930's and became a lobster fisherman. His father had owned a property in Scituate. In 1942 Bob married Catherine Miller who had emigrated from Canada in 1938. The couple had four sons and lived the rest of their lives in their home in Scituate, facing the sea. Bob passed away in 1985 three years after his wife.
