Biography

Harold Joseph Besant was born in 1893 in Cheltenham, Victoria, Australia, the son of Alfred Besant and Mary Follett.^[1]

He married Florence Isabel Hall (1897-1985) on 11 Sep 1920 at Methodist Church, Tucker road, Bentleigh. ^[2]

BESANT-HALL.—On the 11th September, at Methodist Church, Tucker road, Bentleigh, by the Rev. G. R. Godbehear, Harold Joseph, youngest son of Mrs. Besant, of Heatherton, to Florence Isabel, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs J. Hall, of "Tyrone," Boundary road, Bentleigh. (Present address: Old Dandenong road, Heatherton.)

During World War 2 Harold enlisted in the Australian Military Forces^[4] (It is unknown at present what service he saw).

Harold died in 1968 in Cheltenham, Victoria^[5][6]

Following a service on 2nd July 1968 his remains were cremated at Springvale Botanical Cemetery, and the ashes placed in Brind. ^[8] [The tenure is expiring or has expired 2021].
