American investigative journalist and author known for reporting on the Watergate scandal.
Carl Bernstein was born in Washington, D.C. in 1944. He is the the son of Sylvia (Walker) and Alfred Bernstein. He has been married three times, first to a fellow reporter at the Washington Post; then to writer and director Nora Ephron from 1976 to 1980; and since 2003 to a former model. He is the father of two children with Ephron.
He was a journalist. Along with Bob Woodward at The Washington Post, he did the majority of the most important news reporting on the Watergate scandal. His work helped earn the Post a Pulitzer Prize for Public Service in 1973. He is the author or co-author of six books on the theme of the use and abuse of power.
