Hi Cheryl, I see that you again have been creating some duplicates. Please be aware that most of the genealogical lines have been created and many profiles also have been validated. You are both pre-1700 certified and and Honor Code signed, so you understand the importance of avoiding duplicates. When you create duplicates instead of searching for them and then linking your genealogy to them, you are creating an immense amount of work for everyone involved. If you need help, please ask one of the South African team members. They would be most willing to show you how to search and find duplicates before you create them.

Hi Cheryl, I see that you have been creating some duplicate profiles in the past few days. It is WikiTree policy to avoid the creation duplicates as much as possible. Many / most of the South African genealogical lines and profiles of the eigtheenth and seventeenth periods (and earlier) have already been made. Many have also been validated with primary sources. A few handy links:
  1. What are duplicates? Why should and how can they be avoided?
  2. Adding to WikiTree.
  3. G2G Help - for any questions you may have ....

Perhaps you would like to join the South African Roots Project ? Besides useful sources, there are handy help pages …

Hi Cheryl,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or topic. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Add the project tag to your Following list to be kept up to date on any activity that occurs for that project.

Can't find what you're looking for? Let me know, and I can make some suggestions! :-)
