John Andrew Bentley was born on December 23, 1893 in Montréal, Québec, Canada, son of John Bentley and Arabella Jane Cassedy.^[1]

In 1901, John (age 7) was living in Victoria, British Columbia with his parents John (39) & Arabella Bentley (39) and children Frank (8), Violet (5), George (3) and Douglas (2). ^[2]

John served in the WW1 Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) from 6 May 1918 as Private in the 2nd Depot Battalion, British Columbia, and was discharged 7 Jan 1919 due to demobilization of the armed forces.^[3]

John died on December 23, 1964 in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, aged 71. He was buried in Capilano View Cemetery, West Vancouver, British Columbia.^[1]
