Biography

Pieter Benneway is the descendant of a New Netherland settler.

Pieter's parents were Petrus Bennewie (b. 2 Oct 1729 in NY), and Marytje Fort (bap 13 May 1739 in the Albany Dutch Reformed Church).

Pieter was baptised on September 5, 1765 in the Reformed Dutch Church in Schaghticoke, New York (then in Albany County, now in Rensselaer County).

He married Neeltie Quackenbush in the same Reformed Dutch Church on May 31, 1788. They had one child:

• Maria, bap. 24 Sept 1789, In the Dutch Reformed Church in Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County, New York.
