Biography

This profile is part of the Bennett Name Study.

Birth and Baptism

Elizabeth was born 4 July 1852. She was the daughter of George Bennett and Caroline Bennett. She was baptised on 25 July 1852 in Ferring.[1]

Marriage

An Elizabeth Bennett, father George, married George Clevett in Ferring on 8 October 1870.[2]

Death

She passed away in the Winter of 1903.[3]

Research notes

  • Ferring was in Worthing district in Sussex until 1869 when became part of the newly formed East Preston district, West Sussex did not exist in that timeframe, for her birth or death records.
  • Whilst Findagrave suggests Elizabeth's middle name was Caroline, there is no other evidence that was her middle name, including baptism, marriage, census and death records on Family Search, FreeBMD and GRO, so I have made that change and removed the name Caroline
  • Of course her mother was called Caroline, but there is no evidence of that being Elizabeth's middle name.
  • Her age at death of 49 for Cuckfield district Mar quarter 1903 (vol 2b/106) doesn't match her birth year. Unfortunately Slaugham burial records on FS stop at 1901, but that aligns with the 1901 census in Slaugham.
