P.S. To find reliable sources for your profiles, go to the Family Tree & Tools tab; select Genealogy Research and scroll down near the bottom of that list and select Research with RootsSearch. There are over 20 websites to access from there.

Hello, Janet. It has been quite a while since we have corresponded. I see you are making some additions to WikiTree. It's great to see you aboard. It can take a while to learn the ropes at WikiTree but there is a lot of help available and I will be happy to help in any way I can.

I did see that you ended up with duplicates of your grandmother, Juanita Lucille. I have set up the merge proposal. Since you are the manager for both profiles, you will be able to simply accept the profile and add some bio information. I'd be happy to help if you wish.

Hi Janet, thanks for lowering your privacy settings and signing the Honor Code!

As mentioned, the New Member How-To will save you a lot of time and frustration.

Please add as much information as you can, with sources, as it all helps to turn a “name” back into a person. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Thank you for adding your DNA to WikiTree. Getting the Best from DNA will tell you more about how DNA kits are used on WikiTree.

I am here to answer any question you have about WikiTree. To contact me, please log in to WikiTree and go to your profile. Use the ‘Reply’ link below my comment to be sure I will be notified. You can also click my name to send a private message, or post a comment, on my profile page.

Have fun collaborating on your ancestors

Hi, Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, here are a few more features you may find useful

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you will run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page or G2G Post. Sandy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hi Janet,

Thanks for the note!

We were all novices at some point. Where do your interests lie? What do you know already? Take a look at Getting Started With Genealogy for some great tips on recording your family history.

WikiTree is a collaborative site for people of all experience levels. Did you volunteer because you want to start adding your family and contribute to our shared tree? Just leave us another note here on your profile page to tell us about your genealogical interests, and one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership.

Hi Janet,

Hi!

I see you have added your DNA test information!

Our DNA Features page will explain how we use DNA on Wikitree.

We also have a project for DNA where a lot of great new things are happening. To check it out, use the Find menu on the top right of your profile page, select Projects from the drop-down menu, and then select the link for the DNA project. It has information listed that might be of interest to you. Feel free to contact any of the members if you would like to join the project or get more information.

Hi Janet,

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message here on your profile about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.
