Biography

George was born in 1883.^[1] His mother, Antoinette Schnare, hailed from St. Margaret’s Bay, in Nova Scotia, while his professional musician father, Edward Parry Beckett, emigrated from Cambridge, England to Canada, then to the United States.

George married Grace Pooler (daughter of George Pooler and Tilly Brown) on 12 April 1904 in Revere, Massachusetts. ^[2]

They had one son; George P Beckett (b. 23 Feb 1905, d. 2 Jul 1973).

United States Census, 1910: Living with his wife Grace and son George in Revere, Suffolk, Massachusetts, United States. Aged 26.

George was drafted into the 1st World War.^[3]

United States Census, 1930: Living in Waterville, Kennebec, Maine, United States. Aged 47. He was Chief of Police for the City of Waterville, while his son Robert, in the same or adjoining household, was also in law enforcement with the Highway Police.

George passed away in 1958.
