Biography

"...and desirous of purchasing for actual settlement on hundred Acres of Crown Lands... being Lot fifty on the north side of the Road from Hammond River to Hopewell... Your petitioner was put in possesion of this Lot by the Emigrant Agent from Saint John with farming implements for the woods (?) about seventeen years ago ... Your petitioner Biult a House and Lived on the Lot and cleared three or four acres as his Crop was cut off with the frost your petitioner Left it and went out to labour and he requests that he may be allowed to purchase it..." (Thomas Beck)

Also in 1844 Roderick O'Connor petitioned for "lot fifty North Side of New Ireland Road" and that "the said Thomas Beck chopped down about one acre of the same but did not ever erect any building... and within a short time after abandoned all possession or claim to the same..."

Thomas Beck petitioned again in 1846 for an unsurveyed 100 acre lot "on the south side of Land now petitioned for by Pete Olsten on the East sie of the Road from New Ireland to Salmon River." [1]
