Thanks Johanne! I just found the WikiTree site. Not sure why I hadn't seen it before. Having to re-enter all my Ancestry info is kind of a pain, since it doesn't let you import info from *.ged files (at least I haven't found a way to do it). I may just try to enter my Beatty paternal lineage and go from there.
Hi Mike, I’ve never done any kind of gedcom import. I think using the import button in the nav bar above basically does a gedcompare which will alert you to profiles already in existence that match yours. There is info on it in the help folders
I also had other trees before I started on wikitree but it was an interesting process to go through the building process again.
Anyway you can just enter your direct line as you suggest and that will give you a feel for the task and whether or not you want to invest the time to do more.
DNA at WikiTree provides a visual way for you to find others who have tested and have the potential of having common ancestors. To get the best results, you need to start with yourself and add sourced profiles for your ancestors until you can connect to existing profiles in WikiTree. 24 hours later, your test will have populated on the profiles of your ancestors and their descendants, where others with potential matches may also appear.
Have a look at the GEDcom help pages. You should find useful info about uploading your tree. One of our mentors created a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process that many members have found very helpful. I hope that you will too.
If you have any questions, please ask. I am happy to help! If I can't answer, I will help you find someone who can.

Good luck.

Start with the New Member How-To pages — they are really useful as you add profiles and learn your way around.
Have a look at the Get Started with DNA page for info about adding your DNA results.
