Frederick's father, my great great great grandfather is recorded as Alexander Beattie a manufacturer of cloth. Sadly, I haven't been able to confirm more about Alexander. Frederick's death certificate records his mother's name as Miller and I haven't been able to go back any further. My dna is 49% Scotland (33% paternal/16% maternal). 29% Ireland (8% paternal/21% maternal) England/Northwestern Europe, Wales and Baltics.
I have been researching since 2001 and have learnt a lot, but feel like I have only just begun sometimes.
Some of my Paternal line surnames are below and have various spellings throughout records: Beattie, Williams, Laurie, Davies, Willey, McGarry, Chilvers, Watkins Lidycoat, Mundy, Polkinghorne, Holloway, Morgan.
The Irish lines are a little more challenging, especially my paternal Irish Beattie side - Great great grandfather Frederick Beattie born in Ireland abt 1827 his father was Alexander Beattie manufacturer of cloth and mother possibly Margaret Miller. Miller is recorded on his death certificate 1884 Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Frederick married Ann Willey in 1861, England and they migrated to Moreton Bay, Queensland, Australia aboard the Scottish Hero in Nov 1882 and arriving Feb 1883 with their six children aged 5 yrs to 18 yrs.
My dna connects me to descendants of James Beattie b. 1818 Bruckless, Donegal m. Margaret Jane Correll 1841 Ireland, James Beattie migrated to Australia in 1841 and d.1881 Sydney, New South Wales Australia. James parents were Alexander Beattie and Margaret Miller according to passenger list and immigration records.

I have been researching since 2001, however, I simply keyed in the place of source "Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Death Certificate, Census/Electoral Rolls" Is this sufficient or is it preferred I list links or more information from the record itself? Thank you Kathy Beale (Beattie)
A source is the identification of where you obtained information. Sources are critically important for genealogy. It's been said that "genealogy without sources is mythology".

I will endeavour to correctly enter my sources as I have previously purchased some records and will correctly label them. I also have many records on my Ancestry tree and will simply label where they are from.
