ÌIle D’Orléans Ste Famille Parish
The militia assembled at 4:00 p.m.
…Reviewed 120 men, public address, [Cheered] “Long live the King” & c. Called forth and had Bazil Bauché dit Morency brought to us in front of the said militia. Ordered [that] a lantern be brought to us and forced the said Bauché to turn in the captain’s commission that he had received from the rebels. After having read it publicly, we forced him to burn it with his own hand, telling him sarcastically that for lack of a public executioner he would have to serve as his own. This punishment seems to have made a strong impression on all present.
The said Bazil Bauché Morancy is accused, although indirectly, of being a strong partisan of the rebels and of having sergeants under his command act with vigilance. With the help of Bte Lognon, he has enlisted the parish to stand guard at the end of the island. He threatened to burn Captain Perreault’s property because he ordered his children to join the King’s service. [7]

Canada was formed by confederation on 01 July 1867.

He died 26 May 1783 at age 72 in Sainte-Famille. [8]
