Mary T Bates was born on October 8, 1809 in Albemarle, Virginia, United States, daughter of Robert Bates (1786–1834) and Elisabeth Perry Bates (1788–1834).^[1]

Mary married John Pitts Beasley (born on September 25, 1805 in Warren, North Carolina, United States; son of John Pitts Beasley Jr. and Margaret (Barnett) Beasley).^[2] Their children were:

• Narcissa Beasley (1826–1899)
• Elizabeth Ann Beasley (1827–1872)
• Mary Paralee Beasley (1831–1910)

Mary died on April 20, 1894 in Lyles, Hickman, Tennessee, United States, aged 84. She was buried in Little Rock Cemetery, Lyles, Hickman County, Tennessee.^[1]
