William Barty was born in Lincolnshire, England.
This profile is part of the Bartee Name Study.

William was born about 1757.[1] He married Elizabeth Wilson at the All Saints Church[2] in Fosdyke, Lincolnshire, England in 1778.[3][4] All of their children were baptised at the same church where they were married.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11] Their sons Thomas[12] and John[13]were both baptised in 1780. In 1788, their daughter Ann was both baptised and buried,[14][15] and later that same year their sons William[16] and George[17] were baptised. Their son James was baptised in 1791,[18] a son cited simply as 'Barty' in 1794.[19] Sadly, William passed away and was buried at the All Saints Church in Fosdyke, aged only 39 years.[1] His second daughter Ann was baptised at the same church on the very same date that his body was buried.[20]

Research Notes

  • These baptism dates are spaced so oddly. Are there two Elizabeth and William Barty's baptising children at Fosdyke? Ie a Possible conflation of two people named William Barty with wife Elizabeth in the area? Double check any possible clues on FreeReg, ie church name, names of any witnesses, any notes, etc.
  • Witnesses for their wedding were: William Eaton and Thomas Booth.
  • With brothers William and George, baptised with such a large gap of eight years after the first baptised child of the couple, twins or just baptised together? And could the close 1780 baptisms of siblings be a proximity of baptism dates rather than a conflict of birth dates per se?
