Rupert travelled to Melboune , Australia aged 16yrs on his own in 1913 on the ship the "INDRAPURA" .
He settled in Hobart where he was employed in a hotel when he enlisted on the 9th April 1915 at the outbreak of W.W.1 into the Australian Imperial Expeditionary Force . ( He stated on his enlistment form that his parents were deceased ) .
He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal in 1918 .
He was buried on 29th Jan 1970 at Lilydale Lawn Cemetery , Victoria .
