NOT TO BE CONFUSED with his nephew of the same name William Henry Barriball (1859-1927).
William Henry Barriball was the son of Charles and Ann Barriball who had emigrated to New Zealand from Cornwall. His parents first settled in Mount Eden, where it is believed William was born, then moved to Waiuku taking up a land grant there.
William became a farmer in Waiuku like his father before him.
He married and had four children. His sons were Daniel Henry Ivor Barriball and William Roy Lesley Barriball. His daughters were Zilla Segetia Beatrice Barriball and Ada Jessie Winifred Barriball.
William died in an accident, falling from his cart when he was visiting one of his sons, and broke his neck. This accident was reported in the Auckland Star on 21 August 1923. He was 72 years old.

He was known in the community as an active member of the Waiuku Methodist Church.
