1766 Birth and Parents

Per Barrett, S. Byron. The Barrett Family Record: “Jonathan Barrett (it seems from what data I have been able to get) was the name of my great grandfather and that he was an officer in the English Army. There is a record in the town clerks office in Washington Mass showing that “Jonathan Barrett joined the church in 1778” and thus may have been (and probably was) the father of Solomon Sr. (my grandfather) and of Jonathan Jr., Isaac, David, Jemima, Tamar, Elizabeth and Sally.”

Per Barrett, S. Byron. The Barrett Family Record: “The story was told by Solomon Barrett, Jr., that his grandfather, Jonathan Barrett (an officer in the English Army) was once riding his horse when he was suddenly thrown head-foremost in a summer-sault over a pile of wood. Alighting squarely on his feet, he casually remarked to the by-standing officers and soldiers: “Gentlemen, I would like to see any one of you accomplish that feat.”

Research Notes

The Find A Grave shows his father to be John Berrett (1721-1792) and indicates this John Berrett has a will. [3] Details of the will are not provided, but could be useful in determining who the children of this John Berrett was, and whether one of them was Solomon.Day-1904 13:16, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

Originally though to be the son of Jonathan Barrett & Sarah Haskell; however no proof of them being his parental lineage. Still being researched. Any help is appreciated in determining his parental lineage.
