Dominick Barrett was born in 1773 in County Cork, Ireland, son of Thomas Barrett and Jane Christian.[1]

Dominick (age 27) married Martha Faircloth (age 15); daughter of Zachariah Faircloth and Mary (Armstrong) Faircloth) in June 1801 in Montgomery County, North Carolina, United States. Their children were:[1]

Dominick died on May 15, 1840, in White Store Township, Anson, North Carolina, United States, aged 66. He was buried in Barrett Cemetery, White Store Township, Anson County, North Carolina.[2]

Will of Dominic Barrett

- Dated 1839 The last Will and Testament of Dominic Barrett of the State of North Carolina and County of Anson.[3]
In the name of God Amen. I Dominic Barrett of the County of Anson and State of North Carolina being in sound mind and memory, blessed be Almighty God for the same but considering the uncertainty of this
mortal life do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form following viz. First, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Martha Barrett, all that tract or parcel of land whereon I now reside together with all the cows, hogs and sheep and four horses and all other perishable property that may be here at my decease which she is to hold during her life time or during the time of her being and continuing my widow. Also, I give and bequeath to her during her lifetime, if she shall so long continue my widow, all my property not hereafter disposed of. I also give to her the power of selling my cows or hogs if she shall think best. I also declare that it is my will that after the decease or second marriage of my wife, all the property which I have now given to her shall be equally divided among my children which are to be hereafter mentioned. I also commit the guardianship of my children who are underage until they become twentyone years old unto my said wife during her life, if she shall so long continue my widow and from and after her death or second marriage, unto my sons, Thomas Barret and Eli Barrett. And I do
hereby declare that the expenses of the maintenance and education of my children who are now under age viz Martha, Armstrong, James Berrygrove and William, until they become of age, or are entitled to the property which is to be herein after provided for their benefit...respectively shall be paid and borne by my said wife or in case of her death or second marriage, by my sons, Thomas Barrett and Eli Barrett out of the money and estate given to my said wife in and by this will.
Secondly, I also give and bequeath to my oldest daughter, Elizabeth, all that parcel of land known as the Thomas Barrett tract in addition to which I have already paid her two hundred dollars in money. Also I give her two negro girls named Mill and Mary together with all their increase.
Thirdly, I give and bequeath to my next eldest daughter, Mary, eight hundred dollars worth of land or money, in addition to which I have already given her two hundred dollars in money. I also give to her two negro girls named Dice and Clarissa with all their increase.
Fourthly, I also give and bequeath to my sons, Richmond Barrett and Calvin Barrett all that tract or parcel of land bought of Stephen Rushing Esqr. to be divided equally between them and also the following negro property viz...lo. Richmond I give two negro boys named David and Lewis and to Calvin I give two boys named George and Frank.
Fifthly, also I give and bequeath unto my son, Thomas Barrett, all that tract or parcel of land bought of James M. Rushing and also two negro boys named Robert and Reddick.
Sixthly, I also give and bequeath unto my son Eli Barrett all that tract or parcel of land bought of Robert Rushing Jr. and also two negro boys named Hampton and Allen.
Seventhly, I also give and bequeath to my daughter, Sarah, one thousand dollars worth of land or money, also two negro girls named Harriet and Mill and their increase.
Eightly, also I give and bequeath to my daughter, Martha, one thousand dollars worth of land or money; also two negro girls Ann and Linder and all their increase.
Ninethly, I also give and bequeath to my son Armstrong Barrett all that tract or parcel of land bought of Richard Rushing Sr. also two negro boys named Jo and Jordan.
Tenthly, I also give and bequeath to my sons, James B. Barrett all that part of this tract of land on which I now reside which lies east of the Morris Branch. This branch to be the line between my sons James B. Barrett and William Barrett. Also to my son James B. Barrett I give two negro boys named Dick and Randall. Eleventhly, also I give to my son William Barrett all that part of this tract of land on which I now reside which lies west of Morris Branch. Also two negro boys, Fred and Sam. Also I do further declare that it is my will and meaning that all the property which I have given to my daughters as above named, together with all the increase thereof shall belong to them and the
lawful heirs of their bodies forever.
Finally, I do make and order that my sons, Thomas Barrett and Calvin Barrett, be the executors of this my will and testament. I do further declare that in case any of the negroes whom I have given to my children as named above should die before my children get them in possession, that their place shall be supplied out of the negroes who
have not been named in this will. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirtieth day of November in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Nine. Signed and sealed in the presence of Thomas Robinson and J.P. McPhersan State of North Carolina Anson County, July Sessions 1840 Then the last will and testament of Dominic Barrett was duly proven in open court by Thomas Robinson and J.P. McPhersan the subscribing witnesses, whereupon Thomas Barrett and Calvin Barrett the executors therein named qualified and obtained letters testamentory.
