there were a number of children born before the marriage, and on the BC of daughter Elizabeth in 1865, gave a marriage date of 1863 in Newcastle. Marriage appears to have taken place a number of years after starting a family

Their known daughter was Adelaide Teresa Barrett (1870–1871).

The death took place at "Rockview", Wingello,; on Monday last, of Mr. John Barrett, a very old resident, at the age of 83 years. A widow and large, family survive him, beside many grand-children. The remains were interred in the C. of E. cemetery, Penrose, on Tuesday.

BARRETT — The death took place on the 25th January, at Wingello, of Johnny Barrett, aged 83 years, Eldest son of the late George Barrett, farmer, of West Dapto, and dearly beloved brother of Sarah Jane Templeton, Tressa Adams, Bella Jolliffe, and Joseph Barrett.
