Biography
James was born in 1870, probably in Hart county, Kentucky. He was the son of Asa Barr and Elzira Kelley.
He was listed as "Barr", age 1/12 on the 1870 census in Hart county, Kentucky with his parents and his older brother.[1]
His father died in 1873. His mother married Samuel B. Bevill.
He was living with them in Edmonson, Kentucky in 1880.[2]
He married Susan Mary "Susie" Newbert on 05 March 1897 in Jasper, Jasper, Missouri.[3] They had children.
They were living in Marion township, Jasper, Missouri in 1900.[4]
They were in Liberty, Montgomery, Kansas in 1910 and 1920 and 1940.[5][6][7]
He passed away in 1951. He was buried in Liberty Cemetery in Liberty, Montgomery, Kansas.[8] His middle name of Ira is inscribed on the tombstone.
