Even though the first Barr family farm was in Caledonia Township (Concession 5, Lot 3), the family claims to have been from Vankleek Hill. Vankleek Hill was certainly the largest village/town near the farm so it was probably easier to state one was from there than to explain where Caledonia was. It is also possible that Vankleek Hill Post Office provided mail service to the farm. For the 1911 Census, the family was living in Vankleek Hill (even though they still owned 50 acres in Caledonia) so this may also have affected where the family said they were from.
Death location given as section numbers from survey. Using Battle River since that is the name used in the 1921 census for the farms outside Vermilion.
