Sarah Ann Barns was born in about 1838 in St Helens, Lancashire. She was the daughter of John Barns and Elizabeth (Hewitt) Barns. ^[1]

By June 6th 1841, they were living in Sandfield Crescent, Eccleston in Prescot, Lancashire. Sarah's father was a saddler. Butcher John Marsh was living with them. ^[2]

By March 30th 1851, they were living in Windle, Lancashire; Sarah's father was a saddler. ^[3]
