Biography

Ellen Elizabeth Barlow was born on September 12, 1838 in Whitby, Yorkshire, England, United Kingdom, daughter of George Barlow (~1805–1875) and Mary Ann White (~1805–1870).

Ellen emigrated to Victoria on the Parsee in 1858 with her parents and siblings.[1].

Ellen (20) married George Earle (39) (born about 1819 in Kingston upon Hull, Yorkshire; son of George Seymour Earle) on January 22, 1859 in Sandhurst, Colony of Victoria. Their children were:

Ellen died on December 22, 1881 in Sandhurst, Colony of Victoria, aged 43.[2] Her remains are interred at Bendigo Public Cemetery, Bendigo, Victoria, Australia.[3]

Please note: the Sandhurst of 1881 is NOT the Sandhurst on modern maps. From 1863 until 1891 the official name for what is now Bendigo was City of Sandhurst, County of Bendigo. After 1891 Sandhurst reverted to its previous name of Bendigo.[4]
