Biography

Ellen Barlen was born at Alverstoke in Hampshire ^[1] early in 1866, daughter of George Barlen and his wife, Mary Anne Brooker. Her father died late in 1870. ^[2] It was only three months later that Mary Ann married her brother-in-law, William. The wedding took place at St Thomas's church in Portsmouth on the 4th of March 1871. ^[3] They were all living in Avery Lane in Gosport that year. ^[4]

Ellen died unmarried in 1891. ^[5]
