Biography

Harriet, illegitimate daughter of Elizabeth Barker, was baptised on 10 April 1836 in Harpham, Yorkshire, England.[1]

Harriet (age 22) married Newrick Wilson (age 23) on 21 February 1858 in Bridlington, Yorkshire East Riding, England after banns. He was a railway clerk. The bride and groom both signed the register.[2]

They had 12 children between 1858 and 1875.

In the 1861 census Harriett (age 25) was living with her 26 year old husband, Newrick - a Clerk for the North East Railway Company, and his parents John and Esther Wilson on Bridlington Road, Bridlington, Yorkshire, England.[3]

In the 1871 census Harriett (age 35) and her husband Newrick Wilson, a Beerhouse keeper, lived on Bridlington Road, Bridlington, Yorkshire, England. Their two sons (Edwin and John) and four daughters (Agnes, Ada, Jessie and Clara) were living with them.[4]

In the 1881 census Harriet (age 45) and her husband Newrick Wilson (Goods Clerk North East Railway Company), were living at 7 & 8 Brunswick Place, Quay Road, Bridlington, Yorkshire, England. Their four sons (Edwin, John, Arthur, William Barker) and two of their daughters (Ada and Jessie) were also living with them. They had a boarder, John Burniston, who was a railway clerk for the NE Railway Company.[5]

In the 1891 census Harriet (age 55), Lodging House Keeper, was the widowed head of household living at Queens Terrace, Hilderthorpe, Yorkshire, England. Her daughter Jessie, three sons (John, Arthur and William Barker) and two lodgers Richard Staveley and Tomas Littlewood also lived there.[6]

By the 1901 census Harriet (age 65), a widowed Lodging House Keeper, was the head of household at 55 Windsor Crescent, Helperthorpe, Yorkshire East Riding, England. Her two sons John and Arthur lived with her.[7]

In the 1911 census Harriet Wilson (75), is a widowed Old Age Pensioner and head of household. She is living on her own at 13 Midway Terrace, Bridlington, Yorkshire, in England. [8]

Harriet died on 5 June 1919, aged about 83, and was buried in Bridlington Cemetery, Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire, England with her husband Newrick and son Edwin who pre-deceased her.[9]
