Biography

Archibald was born in 1865. He passed away in 1905. He was accidently killed by a log falling on him while he was unloading a waggon. ^{[1] [2]}

1. ↑ KILLED BY A LOG. We ('Gympie Times') regret to announce the death of Mr Archibald Banks, of Tewantin, who was accidently killed by a log while unloading his waggon on Tuesday evening. Mr. Banks was a son of Mr. A. Banks, of Nanango, and had been in this district for many years. He was a highly respected resident of Tewantin, and his sudden death has cast quite a gloom over the township. A Tewantin correspondent writes that the accident occurred within a mile of the township, about four o'clock in the afternoon. It appears from the meagre information to hand that while deceased was unloading his waggon, the log must somehow or another have slipped and come fairly on top of him, breaking his back in its fall. No one witnessed the accident but the body was found by Mr. W. Duke, who unloads close to the same spot. The deceased leaves a wife and three children. KILLED BY A LOG. (1905, March 6). Could we have been there in that hour of death, To have caught the last sign of his parting breath. The last faint whisper we might have heard, And breathed in his ear one parting word.
