Emma, daughter of Thomas, a mason and Mary Ann Ball was baptised at St Mary the Virgin, Burton Latimer, Northamptonshire on 30th July 1848 [1].
In 1851 Emma (2) was living with her parents Thomas (a mason, 28) and Mary Ann (28), and her siblingschildren Alfred (9), Abner (5), Emma (2) and Sarah (infant) in Burton Latimer. In the house next door lived her grandparents John Austin (1785-1864) and Mary (Daniels) Austin (bef.1800-1875) and her aunt Fanny Austin (1828-1899), and uncles Thomas Austin (1832-abt.1887) and John Austin (1840-1917) [2].
Emma's mother, Mary Ann died in 1852 [3].
In 1861 Emma was 12, living with her parents Thomas (38) and his new wife (and Emma's aunt) Fanny and her full brothers Alfred (19), Abner (15) and half--siblings/half-cousins Mary A (6), Austin L (4) James (2), and Ardela (sic - ie. Cordelia) (1) in Burton Latimer, still next door to her grandparents John and Mary and her brother John [4].
Emma gave birth to her illigitimate son, Francis Abner who was born in the Kettering Registration District in the March quarter of 1871 [5].
In 1871 Emma was a domestic servant living (with her son Francis aged 6 months) as a lodger in the household John Barlow (20, a labourer) and his wife Sarah (20) and their infant daughter Sarah (aged 3 months) at Railway Station (Transcribers' error [6]), Burton Latimer. All the household were born in Burton Latimer [7].
Emma, spinster aged 25, a servant living at Market Place, daughter of Thomas Ball, mason married widower Joseph Dicks, a dealer, aged 32 at St Andrew's Church, Kettering, on 25th December 1873 [8] [9].
The birth of their son, Austen Dicks, was registered in the Kettering Registration district [10].
Joseph and his previous wife Elizah's son Frederick William and Joseph and Emma's son Austin were baptised on 31st December 1875 at St Mary the Virgin, Burton Latimer. Joseph's occupation is given as labourer in both records.[11] [12].
Emma died aged 43, and was buried at St Mary the Virgin, Burton Latimer on 24th June 1890 [13].

In 1881 Francis (10, then called Frank) was living in his grand-parent's household.
A different Emma, or included twice in the 1871 census???
