Lafayette was born in 1826. He was the son of Remember Baker. He passed away in 1868. He is buried in the Forest Hills Memorial Park, Huntingdon Valley, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. [1]
The next day in the early morning hours he and his cousin Lieut Luther B. Baker arrived in Washington. They went immediately to the War Department to meet with Secretary Stanton. There they began to map out their strategy along with E. J. Conger.

He received a generous share of the reward money, $3,750. [3]
